Quilt
Patchwork cottons, stitched. An heirloom before it is used.
Quilt is pieced rather than laid out. Every section is a patch of printed cotton — a pin dot, a gingham, a ticking stripe, a lawn — held to the next by yarn ties across the seam, and it ends on a label saying who it was stitched for.
Its two colours are the two cottons a quilt is pieced from, which is why the pink and the blue belong to the design rather than sitting on top of it.
The cover is the whole quilt with the invitation sewn on as a label, and it rolls up from the foot the way you pack one away: the roll climbs the screen, fattening as it takes up the cloth, and uncovers the page row by row. It is the warmest, most handmade thing in the set.

What you can make with it
Every design works for all four occasions, and the same page carries a family through them: a gender reveal, a baby shower, a birth announcement, then a first birthday — at one address, keeping the photographs, the messages and the guest list.
