Balloon
One grey balloon under an overcast sky. Colour only on the day.
Balloon withholds. The cover is one grey balloon under an overcast sky, with the question lettered onto the balloon itself, and its string tied to the invitation underneath it — and the whole page stays in that weather, clouds drifting past as you read, until the answer is out.
That restraint is the design. Everywhere else the pink and the blue are in the artwork from the start; here there is a single neutral object and a flat sky, and the colour arrives only when there is something to be colourful about.
It is pulled up to open: the string snaps taut, the balloon rises, and it lifts the words it is tied to, which swing under it as they are carried out of the frame. On the page the balloon carries a return tag, the way real weather balloons do, and the messages people leave are written on tags like it.

What you can make with it
Every design works for all four occasions, and the same page carries a family through them: a gender reveal, a baby shower, a birth announcement, then a first birthday — at one address, keeping the photographs, the messages and the guest list.
